Do Empathy Film Series: An Irish Goodbye Online
The Do Empathy Film Series is an opportunity to virtually watch short films that inspire compassion and understanding towards other. After each online screening, our own Laurel Ridge sociology students will host discussion that encourages participants to reflect upon the diversity of human experiences alongside sociological concepts.
On Thursday, April 10th, we will host a screening of the short film, An Irish Goodbye, a drama that focuses on expectations around grief, family, and responsibility.
Participants are welcome to join through Zoom to watch the screenshared film, then participate or observe as our students generate discussion.
More on An Irish Goodbye (23 mins.):
On a farm in rural Northern Ireland, estranged brothers Turlough (Seamus O’Hara) and Lorcan (James Martin) are forced to reunite following the untimely death of their mother (Michelle Fairley). But when the pair discover an unfulfilled bucket list belonging to their late mum, their pained reunion takes an altogether different course.
