Do Empathy Film Series: Haulout Online
The Do Empathy Film Series is an opportunity to virtually watch short films that inspire compassion and understanding towards other. After each online screening, our own Laurel Ridge sociology students will host discussion that encourages participants to reflect upon the diversity of human experiences alongside sociological concepts.
On Thursday, April 24th, we will host a screening of the short film, Haulout, a documentary that follows one man's determination to hold witness in the face of a changing landscape.
Participants are welcome to join through Zoom to watch the screenshared film, then participate or observe as our students generate discussion.
More on Haulout (25 mins.):
As a lone man waits in a hut in the desolate expanse of the Russian Arctic, he is holding out in order to observe a natural event that occurs here every year, but ocean warming is taking its toll.
