Do Social Empathy Film Series: Incident

Do Social Empathy Film Series: Incident Online

The Do Social Empathy Film Series is an opportunity to virtually watch short films that inspire compassion and understanding towards other. After each online screening, our own Laurel Ridge sociology students will host discussion that encourages participants to reflect upon the diversity of human experiences alongside sociological concepts.

On Thursday, October 16th, we will host a virtual screening of the short film, Incident, a documentary that reconstructs the immediate aftermath of a police shooting via montages of bodycam and surveillance footage.

Participants are welcome to join through Zoom to watch the screen-shared film, then participate or observe as our students generate discussion. There is no expectation to share but attendees are encouraged to join in if they feel comfortable!

More on Incident (30 mins.):

A collection of surveillance and body camera footage offers a raw look at the 2018 killing of Harith "Snoop" Augustus by Chicago police officer Dillan Halley and the immediate attempts to shape the story.
